Lupa-Lupin is the main antagonist and final boss of the 2021 action video game Biomutant. He is the personal archenemy of the player character, being responsible for the murder of their parents.
Biography
Lupa-Lupin was born as the last meat-eater of the New World. He lived in a small camp with his mother near the Tree of Life. One day, a mob of Ronins invaded the camp out of revenge for the tribesmen killed by his mother. The player's mother shot an arrow straight into her heart, killing her instantly while Lupa-Lupin watched in horror. Believing Lupa-Lupin was not like his mother, the Ronins let him live. Without his mother, Lupa-Lupin grew up alone, viewed as a freak and outcast. He tried a vegetation diet to fit in, but it wasn't in his nature.
He then heard news of the player's mother giving birth to the player character. Seeking vengeance for his mother's death, Lupa-Lupin attacked the Ronins' village one night, setting it ablaze. He killed all of the Ronins except for the player, giving them a scar on their eye to remember his attack. Because the player's mother was the guardian of the Tree of Life, nature was distorted due to the World Eaters chewing at the roots of the tree.
Lupa-Lupin is the first enemy encountered in the game, having killed a large deer-like creature. He attacks the player when they approach his kill and attempt to smash him with a wooden bat. The player destroys the bat, but Lupa-Lupin pulls out his secondary weapon, a large spiky ball and chain. Unable to defeat Lupa-Lupin, the player is forced to retreat.
After defeating the Eastern and Western World Eaters, Goop tells the player Lupa-Lupin was seen returning to his camp, and the player sets out there to confront their past. At the camp, Lupa-Lupin reveals to the player that he too was waiting for this moment. He explains the reason he spared the player the night he razed the village was so they would grow up alone and suffering like he did. He also explains that he doesn't take lives for food, but for survival and it was time for the player to accept their role in the food chain before attacking them. After the player bests all three phases, the roots of the Tree of Life restrain Lupa-Lupin and he falls unconscious.
At the end of the game, after defeating all four World Eaters, Out-of-Date reveals the Ark for the player to escape on within the Tree of Life, meaning the player must once again confront Lupa-Lupin. Upon returning to his camp, Lupa-Lupin breaks out of his restraints and attacks the player, this time with a small group of Sifu to aid them. But due to him leeching powers from the Tree of Life, Lupa-Lupin has mutated and can use Psy Powers. One by one, Lupa-Lupin will take out the Sifu until only the player is left. Eventually, the ground gives way and the player battles Lupa-Lupin inside the Tree of Life itself. After one last battle, the player finally defeats Lupa-Lupin and avenges their parents.
In one final light or dark choice to affect the game's ending, the player is given the option to finish off Lupa-Lupin or spare him.
Appearance
Lupa-Lupin is a large bipedal creature resembling a lion. He has white skin, a white haired mane, a flat nose, and a mouth full of teeth. He wears a brown leather hunter outfit.
After leaching off his restraints of the roots of the Tree of Life, Lupa-Lupin not only becomes taller in size, but he also has sharper claws on his hands, longer fangs, and the fur on his back points upwards. Instead of using weapons, he relies on running on his legs and knuckles like a gorilla.
